Quick Game Ideas

Don't really feel like making a full dev blog so here a quick one mentioning some game ideas with interactive stories.

More after the break!

Magical Girl Sentai Drama

Not the official title but the general idea. Five legendary magical knight warriors fight the forces of darkness. These girls protect the people from the forces of darkness. Who do you play as? A guy who found out all the identities of the magical knights. They happen to be his classmates. He also knows the identity of the current agent of darkness they are fighting (also a girl in his class). You have NO powers whatsoever except for maybe a slingshot and being somewhat decent at first person shooters.

The question is "What do you do?" There is some in-fighting among the magical knights. Talking to them and helping them get along may help keep your daily life peaceful a few days longer. Maybe you can do something about about the agent of darkness too.

Space Opera Multi-Genre Game

Turn-based war simulation, planetary settlement/diplomacy simulation, bullet-hell shooter! Don't run away just yet. Let me explain.

The main thing is that you can play through using only one game genre type. So if you aren't good at war or bullet-hell shooters then you can just focus on building settlements and diplomacy. Same with the other game genres.

You'll get different stories based on which style you play. This also factors in combinations of game genre's played.

Talk more about it on the forums.

Mass Effect 3 Ending: Bioware? Those are My Shoes You're Wearing

I've watched several good videos about that theory that has been running around the internet with Mass Effect 3's endings. I heard Bioware's appeals to their fans, I felt something strangely familiar.

Then it hit me.

I was saying the same things several years ago when I launched my first game

Breaking the "Choose Your Own Adventure" Standard of Making Choices

So when Fading Hearts was reviewed by Inside AX and they said Fading Hearts '[...]takes “choose your own adventure” to a whole other level.' I was very happy! Then I thought about other games that does this well. I'm taking about subverting whole multiple-choice-test style of making choices in video games.

Then I remembered one really good one. That would be Corpse Party!

Change in Plans for the Future

In this dev blog entry I believe it's time to at least give an update to what's going on.

After reflecting a lot on what's happening and what I've been wanting to do I've come to a decision. The RPG project that I have been talking about before will begin production in a month and will be our next game to be release. The RPG project may take a few years to come out. This implies that IGW Ep. 1 will be delayed for a very long time.

We will be perusing our story-as-gameplay features that made Fading Hearts such a new experience.

More details after the break.
